From all my testing, it's generally not a good idea to run this software because it may decrease your computer speed as you said. Among other negative effects.

it's got some pretty good features, but I'd disable the auto defrag...

it's a got a cleaner, a reg cleaner, nice secure file deletion option, etc

but using ccleaner and other freeware is probably as good

I have to disagree with a lot of you guys. TuneUp Utilites is excellent. Apart from the obvious registry and temporary file cleaning, it also lets you tweak Firefox and IE settings, change your icons, restore deleted files, and repair problems in windows... the list goes on. The program itself is very nice to use and is simple enough for even novice users to use. Best of all, there's a rescue center to undo all the changes.

    There's a 30 day trial. TuneUp Utilities 5 stars from download.com

Its a good program no doubt but I don't see it as a huge leap over the 2007 version. Now from 2004 to 2007, that was a good software upgrade. :)

I found Jv16 Powertools (macecraft.com) during my Win XP days, and now I am using it with Vista Ultimate. It is ---the--- best cleanup software and much better.
