So I am trying to watch this Asian movie "yip man 2" using VLC player, but the problem is there are two languages speaking at the same time, Mandarin and another language the I do not recognize.

I played around with the left/right, mono/stereo options in the VLC player but no luck, I still get two languages. Which is really frustrating.

This is a avi file by the way. How can get rid off the other language audio?

    thanks

right click on the video window and a menu pops up.. select the one that says audio.. if the video file has dual audio options you can change it there..

you could try this not sure if it works though.. Close the VLC player.
Open file vlcrc in textedit located in folder ~/Library/Preferences/VLC/
    search for audio-language=
by default there is nothing after equal sign, and there is nowhere in preferences to set the default language. Just type your preferred languages separated by comas, after equal sign. Make sure you do not leave any spaces after "=" and and comas. For example.. English and Japanese languages it should Look like this: audio-language=English,Japanese. You must type in Japanese after English, because if you don't you wont hear a thing when a media file will have only Japanese audio track.

If they are both on the same track (not one left and one right) you pretty much can't.

Ditch VLC and get a real media player, like Media Player Classic: Home Theatre Edition.

Then you can switch subtitle/audio tracks on the fly with a simple right click on the video area.

I love MPC, but that's hilarious. VLC is far more robust than MPC. All the same options (and far more) are easily accessible via a submenu.

Hey fan boys, quit your trolling. If, as the OP said:
No media player is going to separate it...Or if he does indeed have two audio tracks, any media player allows him to choose...

True, my bad going off-topic. It could be a case of a poor DVD rip that integrated the two tracks into the same embedded stream, or just that the source dubbed the second track right on top of the original. If that's the case, there's no solution.

Nope, not much you can do. That's a good flick too, though not as good as the first.
