    ummm why do I have to install windows service pack 2?

    OK so I booted up my laptop and checked for updates it said there was 1 and it was 392mb so i was like ok clicked update now i get a message once it downloaded to install service pack 2 from 2008?

    the update code was KB948465

    My laptop is more than a year old with vista home premium 32bit shouldn't I alredy have this?

    Sorry if im perenoid but this seems wired and want to make sure with you guys before I click install.

    If you haven't installed it already, right click on my computer and go to properties. It should tell you after Vista Home Premium what version (SP1, SP2, etc.)

    SP2 isn't from 2008. It's very recent.

    Are you sure it isn't saying something like you need to install the service pack 2 update for _Vista and Windows Server 2008? Both were updated with this service pack.

    Yes, I think the OP is thinking Vista is like XP and on SP3. SP2 is quite new for Vista, so it's not too abnormal not to have it. Install it.

    I think the OP misread the KB article, which talks about an update for Vista and also Windows Server 2008.
