    Hi There

I'm on a Dell D620 and a while ago compressed my C:drive because I thought it might be a good thing to do, now I read that this may contribute to slowing down response from programs and now I wish to uncompress it.

Should I just tick the "untick" the original box and wait 9days!!!!!!!!!!! Bit nervous about pressing the button; any advice based on personal experience would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

How much data do you have stored on your drive? Also, how much space do you have available?

Do you need the space or not? Compression generally slows things down, but gives you (effectively) more disk space. So if you don't need the extra space, then uncompress it.

To uncompress, just remove the tick and wait.

When its finished it will be a very good idea to defragment the drive as compressing and uncompressing will fragment the drive heavily.

You might want to back up your things first. Windows volume compression isn't the most reliable utility, from what I have heard.
