I used to be an advanced user.... I relinquish that tittle to Novice.

I'm trying to connect my laptop to my helicopters Monitoring system. The instructions given are too connect a serial cable from the "Black Box" to the laptop, open the program and select a com port. Pretty basic. Super basic program too only one drop down menu with an option to select com ports 1 thru 8.

Problem is it says it can't open com ports 1,2,3,4,5,8.
6 and 7 are open but "communication cannot be established". 6 and 7 are special because under my bluetooth panel it says its using them.
Under system devices all I see are the coms Bluetooth are using 6,7, 11,21,ect.

    How can i enable my COM's 1,2,3,4,5,8????

My laptop is a CF-52 Toughbook XP PRO. sp2

    Help would be much appreciated

After you connect it,you can use the hyperterminal to see if the system can detect something in those COM ports.
