When I try to run both chkdsk /f and chkdsk /r I get the following error message: "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process." I'm able to run the read-only version, but not the /f and /r. I close all applications before trying to run it and beyond that I don't know what to do. Is there any way I can find out what process is causing the problem, or do I have to try shutting them all down one-by-one by trial and error? Thanks for any advice.

"Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)"

type y and then press enter and then restart your computer.

Windows is running on c drive and therefore c drive at least is in use.
