Did you try uninstalling from the "Add or Remove Programs" in the control panel? Also try to shutdown Norton before you do this. I'm not into the Norton family of products either- It bogs down my system. I got rid of everything that's Norton, symantec, and liveupdate related on the list. Some of it, you'll have to uninstall one or the other before you're able to uninstall the other one. Some programs need the other, that's why.

i still haven't figure it out how to uninstall norton family. the problem is that when i try to uninstall norton internet security pack the setuo stops responding and that's it. if i try to uninstall norton antivirus i get the message that this must be done through setup process but i cannot find the setup in either norton folder. damn this norton is really pain in the ass

And its a good idea to follow up any uninstall with a good registry cleaner like Crap Cleaner or Reg Cleaner, or both.
