with every NB you get some of unnecesary software. i would like to uninstall NORTON stuff but i can't get any setup files from norton. how can i uninstall without a format and fresh install of NB?

Did you try uninstalling from the "Add or Remove Programs" in the control panel? Also try to shutdown Norton before you do this. I'm not into the Norton family of products either- It bogs down my system. I got rid of everything that's Norton, symantec, and liveupdate related on the list. Some of it, you'll have to uninstall one or the other before you're able to uninstall the other one. Some programs need the other, that's why.

Yeah, it's there, I just removed it from a new L2000.

i still haven't figure it out how to uninstall norton family. the problem is that when i try to uninstall norton internet security pack the setuo stops responding and that's it. if i try to uninstall norton antivirus i get the message that this must be done through setup process but i cannot find the setup in either norton folder. damn this norton is really pain in the ass

try this
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606
I know it will remove NAV, so I think it will remove the whole family. -
And its a good idea to follow up any uninstall with a good registry cleaner like Crap Cleaner or Reg Cleaner, or both.
