I have a HP 8510p notebook. after making a clean windows install and installing all drivers that came with the computer, I still got an unknown device showing it's ugly yellow question mark in the device manager.

Under location it says: Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2811

I tried installing all the provided drivers again, but to no avail.

I have used a freeware program in the past to find out what the device is and then locate a driver for it. Heres a link

Hope that works for you. Your equipment manufacturer is a good place to start looking for a driver.
