I have a HP 8510p notebook. after making a clean windows install and installing all drivers that came with the computer, I still got an unknown device showing it's ugly yellow question mark in the device manager.
Under location it says: Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2811
I tried installing all the provided drivers again, but to no avail.

It's the Atmel TPM driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58054

That thread is for Lenovo T61s, and I've seen complaints from Dell users also. Hope that solution helps you. -
it was indeed the tpm driver.
thanks guys -
I have used a freeware program in the past to find out what the device is and then locate a driver for it. Heres a link

Hope that works for you. Your equipment manufacturer is a good place to start looking for a driver.
