will i just simply boot from CD? or will i logon to windows and then run the XP disc in the 2000 environment?

xp will boot from cd.
have not heard from anyone using win 2000 for a long time. -
need to install XP as the stupid C400 Dell has no Cd rom or floppy. and windows XP from other machines don't boot when inserted internally in 2.5" format.

does it support bootable usb sticks ?

well, at least it´s worth a shot, if you do not have an external cdrom.
use the guide from zfactor to make a bootable usb stick, and copy all files from the winxp disc to the usb stick .

yeah your best bet is to try it with a usb drive
