I have only 3gb in Windows 7 and i noticed that skypepm.exe (plugin manger) uses 48mb, my 3rd highest app in taskmanger.

So i did a search and found out that there is a skype buisness version and it does not have skypepm.exe ,so that a little bit more memory saved.

Also if you find that skype does not minimize to the taskbar in windows 7, just set skype.exe to run in vista sp2 in comparability mode and it will.

Download Skype for Windows ? Business version (with MSI)

What does the Skype PM application do? I have 3GB in Win 7 64-bit, though I'm never short on memory with my day-to-day uses.

skypepm.exe is used for Skype's extras (games etc). You can disable it without using the buisness version.

Tools -> options -> advanced -> advanced settings -> untick "automatically start extras", restart skype, tadaaa no skypepm.exe and no games access :)

Woop, after installing this I am down to only 7MB used! Compared to 33MB+

Ok, forget the rep, I need to "spread it around" lol.

Would it be simpler just to delete the Skype PM (Plugin Manager) folder (what I did)? :D

    cheers ...

That guarantees that Skype PM will never run, but there's a chance Skype PM has a secondary purpose that breaks by deleting it. Safer to disable by configuration than to just remove it.

it always pays to look for 'business editions' of software and to investigate the custom install options for all software.
