Just wondering if my laptop can do anything useful while the screensaver is up? Surely there must be something better for it to do instead of drawing beziers like crazy?

    Thanks.

    just found this: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/index.php

you can now help search for alien life in your free time! I'd like to get involved but the program collects info on you! I dont know what it collects but it sems there is a leaderboard which shows how much data you have processed.

Does anyone use this? What are the security/privacy issues?

That seems more a waste then a help. Why don't you try folding@home or united devices instead?

I've got my Qpack and Xbox folding 24/7 my Laptop runs F@H when not on battery power. I even b0rg'd my parent computer. I think I'm @ 6.5Ghz worth of folding power right now, but it's a good cause.

instead of going to screensaver, you should just set your LCD to turn off. that way it conserves heat. running a screensaver just works your system for no reason

    no reason! I think not!

I just downloaded and installed Folding @ Home. Im am now officially doing my bit for humanity. It makes use of all my wasted clock cycles! I couldnt get that BIONIC program to work so i abandoned it.

Hope everyone does their bit! lol

you need to run a screensaver for that ? why can't you just set the LCD to turn off? the computer is still running.

I run seti @ home boinc. I've always been interested in E.T.I. But that's just me.

I also record shows on my "tivo" built PC, but I use my lappy to divx the shows that I want to keep.

Whats this folding everyone is talking about?
