each time i plug my 2nd ipod into my lappy it asks to update the songs with those currently in my library but i want the other to have different songs. then i delete the current songs in my library son that i can put new songs onto my ipod. then when i insert my 1st ipod everything is deleletd and updated with the songs from the 2nd ipod since i changed the songs in my library. is it possible to have 2 different my librarys for 2 different ipods(iPod Shuffles). How do i go about this?

check here, apple recommends the best way to do it is to have a seperate windows user account for each ipod, that way the libraries are completely seperate. i do this as everyone in my family has an ipod.

the other way to do it i believe is to have all the songs in a single library and to set up a playlist for each user, you can then choose certain playlists to update for each ipod.

Having two seperate windows account to avoid this issue is not necessary.

There is quite a simple fix. All you have to do is go to edit>prefrences then under ipod options deselect update automatically. Make sure manual update is selected. This way, you can have as many ipods as you want on one computer.

Unfortunately, the automatic update feature is lost. Not much of a loss in my mind.
