Pretty sure you can have norton anti-virus. Although i dont recommand that, kaspersky or avg or avast is much a better choice :) No, you can't use xp on your system as well since it is only licensed for one computer...Although you could cheat...using certain methods to obtain a legal right of XP on your computer...not legal...so im not gonna mention it.

Also, if by a slight chance you sucessfully loaded XP on your system, you do need to get the appropriate drivers for your particular laptop from your manufacture site.

Should be okay. EULA states you can install the OS in two separate systems as long that they don't run at the same time. But that's hardly the case.

No, that would most likely violate the terms of the license. You would have to either use the copy that came with your laptop (if any), or buy a new copy retail.

It depends on what version of XP your brother has. If it's an oem version you it can be used only on the computer it came with, but if he bought a full version you're allowed to use it on a maximum of 4 computers i believe.

I second Acorn on the anti virus advise. Norton is a real resource hog, and you have to pay for their service on top of that. I'd recommend AVG, you can download a free version thats just as good if not better then Norton.

You can use the same disc, but you'll need to use a different product key to activate them. Basically, you need you're own LEGAL license for each product.

    NIS is 3-users key.

Norton 2006/7/8 are far, far, far ,far from what norton once was. Don't even try to tell me AVG Free has a better virus detection than norton...
Norton opinions are biaised imo.... Just read 2008 reviews all over the net. It gets high score everywhere and "users review" are just "NORTON SUX, REDUCES PERFORMANCES BY 80!!!!!"

Also, I was able to activate XP OEM on 2 computers no problems. On my desktop, each time I format I have to do phone activation but when I installed it on my c90s, it worked right away online. But yeah that is not permitted, but it works without doing anything illegal so...

the antivirus if it is from an oem is licensed for 1 machine. if you bought norton from the store, often times it says "licensed for upto 3 computers" if this is the case, you can install it on 3 machines. if it is not, and you install it, you and your brother will not be able to get updates.
