Well, I have an avi file of a specific movie that works great on my computer, but when I tried to play it on a standard dvd it wouldn't work.

Does anybody have any idea what the difference between laptop video playback and dvd video playback is, since it won't work?

If you don't have the answers it would be much appreciated if you referred me to a place where they might know what to do.

    Thanks.

P.S. The avi file was converted from a mkv

Some DVD players will play DivX or XviD, that's about the only AVI format I've heard of them playing. If your player isn't DivX certified you need to convert it to a DVD. To convert your file to a DVD requires an authoring program like FAVC. If you can play DivX then Super can convert your AVI.
