I have a good legal microsoft original cd with microsoft word 2000, and vista don't like it. PHOOEY!
I have used it on three computers over seven years and wanted to load it on my acer 5620 with vista home premium. it don't work? it did on xp and 98!
I guess I will have to look into open office and learn a new format.
anybody know how long it takes to download open office with dsl LIGHT?

sorry I guess I should have put this in the software forum. please move if needed.

What about Office 2003? Does it play nice with Vista?

you could create a DUAL BOOT with VISTA and XP...
or even just downgrade to XP (you'll see a performance boost by going w/ XP be it a DUAL BOOT or a FULL DOWNGRADE)

i assume you tried running the software in COMPATIBILITY MODE.

check that info on that link it may solve your problems

Office 2000 is officially unsupported on Vista, but personally I find it to be "hit and miss"

Today I was able to install everything but Excel on an HP running Vista Home Premium.

office 2000 (minus Outlook, never use it anyway) installed and worked (still works) correctly within Vista Ultimate here. Some users reported yes/no with outlook as well, I personally can't confirm on this

    cheers ...

Zee: go to school? nope! I'm 64 yrs. old. maybe I can get a seniors discount?

bigozone: I don't have an xp disc to load for a dual boot system, and I don't think I could handle the job anyway. [don't really know much about computers]
I looked at the link and it looks like what that would allow you to do is use documents created in office 2007 on a word 2000 program but not install word 2000 on vista?

LOL, well you should get a senriors discount. I use Office 2007 Student Edition and I love it. If you are willing to pay the price, it is a nice bundle.
