So my computer reverted back to the vista basic theme. Now when I go to change the them, I don't have the option for aero. I can even go into the themes folder and click on aero and it still does not work. Does anybody know how I can get aero back or change basic so that it is black and not blue?

Try uninstalling your video card drivers, and reinstalling them (the latest ones if possible).

Did both. Neither of them unlocked aero. My WEI was 3.6.

you installed any autorunning application that may disable aero due to some incompatibility? some apps kill aero while they're running. exiting them normally helps.

else try to change to 16bit and then 32bit desktop colours.

Have you tried a restore from back before the problem started? If you have UAC off, try turning it back on and try previous posters' suggestions after that as well.

Your next best bet would probably be a system repair then.

I got it to my liking. I put a theme on my computer with tune up 2009. The only thing that doesn't work right is that the top of my Chrome window is blue.
