ok i accidently installed XP on my vista partition as for some reason the partition names changed when i used to live CD :S anyways i fixed the boot so i could get into vista and then deleted the windows files for XP and installed XP on the second partition, however my windows media player on vista is no longer functional i tried to reinstall it but the installation version was older than my version and so i can't repair it, this is beginning to annoy me as i use media player alot. the buttons on the front of my laptop uses media player as well to change the music ect doesn't work on other programs.

No Functional ? Meaning is it not opening at all or just not playing any media ?

if its not opening then try this

Go to Start - > Type Run in the Search Box - > type regsvr32 wmp.dll

and if its not playing any media , then try un-installing all codec packs and install it again and refer this link for more info on WMP errors and stuffs related to it

it crashes on opening, it has the media player icon from the XP one and it says windows media player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
i tried downloading WMP11 but it says my version of WMP is more recent than the download.
