    vista disk management's problem...

    I have a 80gb HD, wanna divide it into two 40gb partitions....but.....

    disk management's shrink action only allows me to shrink 6.58gb.....

    (Now I have 80gb for c:, just one partition, 60+gb is free.......)


    help....plz....

    You have to defrag it (there are bits of data on the end of the partition so the manager cannot shrink it further).Read the guide in my sig.

    I used vista's built in defragment tool and even diable the virtual memory/pagefiles......yet....still no improvement... ..

    any idea?

    I used defrag.exe c: -w at command line.
    shows:
    volume size = 67.95gb
    free space = 60.45gb
    largest free space extent = 43.89gb
    percent file fragmentation = 0%

    But I still can just shrink only 6gb from c:!!!!!
