I have some shared files on my network. My main PC runs win xp, and is connected to the router through the Ethernet cable. My laptop is connected though wireless connection and runs vista. My other computer is also connected via wireless and runs xp.

Now I share a movie on the network, there is always a delay before playing the actual movie on the vista laptop.
But if I play the same movie on the computer running xp which is also connected via wireless signal, the money starts in an instant.

Why does vista have a delay before playing any media? Both computers have 100% signal

Network file sharing is generally slow on vista, is there any fix to this?

    thanks

How long of a delay are we talking about?

There was a problem with Vista networking that slowed it down a lot. This was supposed to be fixed in hotpatch and included in SP1. Personally, I think it is faster than the released version of Vista, but still not up to the XP speed.

i network a lot too and i had the same problem, SP1 fixed some of it but it still wasn't as fast as XP
BUT, when i installed Vista on my desktop as well, the network was very very very fast and reliable, I guess vista and Xp don't mix well
    just my 2 cents
