its official i just installed the actual rtm version. Microsoft has finally compiled the final RTM version of Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. As usual, the setup installer for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 have been leaked to Internet for free download by all, way ahead of official Microsoft release.
The final RTM of SP2 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista has the file build version of 6002.18005, with full string of 6.0.6002.18005, as mentioned in article about SP2 RTM-Escrow.
edit it is now uploaded to rapidshare but im not sure im allowed to post links. its only sp2 not the whole os?? lmk and i can post them up

Its up on MSDN, go and get it if you have an account.
-
wow its much faster.....

To housekeep your hard disk and clean up those old and unused SP1 backup files, users probably can try the new Service Pack Cleanup Tool which is also named as compcln.exe. This successor for SP1 cleanup tool, Vsp1cln.exe, can easily remove all the system files (RTM & SP1) inherited from the older versions but replaced by Vista SP2.
Running this compeln.exe tool is pretty simple:
1. Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt or click Start>Run and type cmd to open Command Prompt Windows
2. Execute the command “Compcln.exe”. -
zfactor, your first post..i see where you got the info from haha. Downloading now on torrent ^__^
-
It was on the German MSDN site a few hours ago, that's how I found it (and I'm presuming it leaked), they must of removed the link cause I can't find it anymore. I'm at work so I didn't get a chance to download is
-
So is Vista SP2 fast?
-
MSDN link here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd262148.aspx
Slipstreamed SP2 seems to be available. -
TORRENT LINKS
Google for links.
question: is it best/safe to download the Wave 0 with the lesser language support if i'm only looking for English? i'm paranoid about causing any problems with my system as i am not an advanced user. -

-
On both the technet and msdn sites they have Vista discs with SP2 integrated and standalone installers:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/securedownloads/default.aspx?pv=36:146
EDIT: Gary, you need to be a member to download them. -
I wonder...if I install the registry hack to allow windows update to be offered the SP2 update now would I get the beta or the rtm final.
-
It works fellas. I'm up and running on SP2.
-
How is SP2? Any noticeable improvements? Any problems?
-
I'm running it now on my laptop and installed on my desktop.
My laptop seems more responsive, especially on startup, everything loads really quick. The only problem I did have was Avira 8 was incompatible with SP2 for some reason, but easily fixed, installed 9. Pressing ctrl, alt, del and the menu is instant, whereas before, there was a black screen for a second or so. So far so good. I've not really tried it on my dekstop yet, but that has a lower spec than my laptop so i'm hoping it speeds it up a bit, here's hoping!!!! -
It appears SP2 has fixed one nagging problem and that is how it handles TPM. Post SP1 my event log would record numerous TPM errors as well as TBS especially after coming out of Sleep mode. I'm happy to report it appears the problem is now fixed.
As far as any notable speed changes, I can't tell just yet. Some Office files now open much faster but others are the same speed which were already acceptable. I'm also down one process. -

Sorry, no torrents for me. To risky for my development machine. I am an MSDN member, so I'll wait till it shows up there.
Gary -
Downloaded it via Torrent and now I don't have that Splash on the right corner telling me the build number, computer properties show SP2 and my boot up and programs are considerably more fluent now. I believe this is the final.
-
this is final is was already on msdn its the same version number and build number

Now only beta & RC downloads are available in MSDN and Technet.
-
dling it right now and will try it out
-
Oh sure, the day after I do a clean install of Vista SP1, they come out with SP2.
Typical.
I'll be sure to download it on general release. -
installed flawless, seems like my boot times are longer... also looks like i've lost like 20GB of disk space. might this be due to me turning system restore on? otherwise, seems to run just fine.
-
so.. i began to run compcln.exe, and it gives me the Y/N option to run it along with the message that it will make all service packs permanent on this computer... huh???
EDIT: i thought this meant prior service packs as well... it just cleans off sp1 so you can not revert your installation of sp2. -
should i install it or wait for the full version to come out?
-
It works fine. Can't tell if there's a speed difference, but most programs open up faster. I think Windows 7 is still faster though, my mind is still over whether to use XP or 7.
-
The hell, they removed the RTM again from that list, it was listed when I posted.
-
-
-
I still have the torrent link to both the 32 and 64 bit versions. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.
-
Is it the one on TPB? -
Service pack only.
-
-
It's the MSDN torrent release aka "RTM Final". It has nothing to do with V-Lite.
-
I'm looking for the whole OS, with SP2 integrated in it, and not by vLite, but by MS themselves. -
Actually you need to have SP 1 installed.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335038.aspx -
They had integrated images up on MSDN/Technet and I'm looking for that as well.
-
-
i just read that a microsoft spokesperson said that it'll come via windows update sometime before the end of june.. meaning.. don't wait for it!
-
vista sp2 is now officially rtm
