    Hi.

for so reason my taskmanger had disapeared.

ctrl, alt + delete / greyed from the list

ctrl shift + esc / nothing happens

right click on taskbar / greyed out.

So i did a search on google, And download Winbubble

The Taskmanger was disabled in the security section, but i did not do it.

I did a virus/spyware scan and found a couple of Trojans, could they have disabled Taskmanager.

    Thanks

    John.

You need to just reinstall at this point.

    Hi.

Re-install, it`s not that bad is it!

So much for AVG 8.0 Free`s protection

    Regards

    John.

Avast 8 is sooo much better. Comodo is also quite good but I prefer Avast as Comodo constantly interrupts things as it's trying to learn which is not good if your installing a program.

Yes it does. It's been a while since I used it, but avast does have both a generic mail scanner for both incoming and outgoing mail, and it has an Outlook plugin.

Overall, avast is a pretty decent anti virus tool. However, I ditched avast after using it for a year and switched to Shield Pro 2008 after our home LAN got infected and avast kept telling me everything was fine (yes, updated with latest signatures and all). Shield Pro found and squashed the virus, so I went with it. So far so good.

I recommend reinstalling mostly because that is the only way you'll feel safe now. Sure, utilities exist that CLAIM to remove something....but you don't exactly KNOW do you?

In any event, that malware could have done other damage that is not easily reversible.

It`s a trojan, which you might fix with NOD32. I highly recommend it, when up to date, it`s among the best AV out there.

    Hi.

I installed avast 4.8, but it says it`s a 60 days licence, I thought it was FREE!

EDIT : looks like all you have to do is register before the 60 days expire.

EDIT2 : I do not like the interface, but if it does the job.

    Regards

    John.

So did it work? There`s no sense in keeping it if the job ain`t done :)

Unlikely that your system is clean. Especially if you have found trojans. You might try SuperAntiSpyware, but a clean reinstall is the safest at this point.

If you read post 1, I had already fixed the problem when i made this thread.

I use Winbubble, to re-enable taskmanger.

Can a clean re-install get ready of trojans? I thought trojans can get even in the booting sector, which means the only direction is to re-format the HDD and install the OS.

    Hi.

I have done, a full format and re-install, I will use Avast until something better is avaliable.

I do not trust AVG 8.0 now, as my system was infected while it was running!

    Regards

    John.

Using Registry Editor to fix this issue,
    Follow these steps:

Click Start, Run, type regedit and click OK.
    Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
In the right pane, delete the "DisableTaskMgr" key.
Log off for the change to take effect
