When I had my first Vista PC last year, it was absolutely horrible - Vista update would hang, the PC was fast sometimes and slow the other etc. It was until I did a recovery install and then run a Vista update before doing any thing else - 88 update packs later my Vista was much more stable.

More probably its the program itself... If you don't mind can you get us more specifics please? as in what program it is? Is it something from M$ like office or something, or does this happen to all program at random? Its also possible that the program isn't compatible with Vista itself... I don't know, but its a possibility. So it would be better if you could kindly get us more specifics. Thanks.

Also do you see any error codes? I mean after you boot up? Well, since u said it freezes on boot up, you might want to boot up in safe mode and see if there are any error reports or logs with some error codes.. It might be more easy then to find out what is happening.

My Vista Ultimate 64 is great when I fresh install, its the updates for me that cause issues. They are like Russian Roulette.

    thanks for all the reply!
the program that get stuck most is wmware, that i figured it out at the setting.
but recently i have common programs like msn messenger going into lockup once and firefox3 going into lockup but i was able to end that one. so far the real big one is msn and wmware.

my vista does have problems at booting, but it does at recovery. i had backed up my data on the drive. when there is a problem, i used the restore to make it go back to the prevent setting, however, it resetted my admin account but kept my other 2 sub accounts that was created after the back up. is that normal?
