    vlc 0.9.9 video aspect ratio preference question

    how can i set up VLC to play my video always at 16x9 instead of whatever the video's default is?

    Try under

    . Settings > Preferences... > Video

    . Advanced options check box (bottom-right of window).

    . Scroll down to "Monitor pixel aspect ratio", chose what you want and save it.

    uhm... so what exactly should this ratio be? i tried putting in 16:9 but that gave me nothing. Any ideas?

    Edit:it seems to not make the video 16:9 i go to full screen version and it does nothing it looks all strewn. the lcd tv is 1920x1080.

    The Video is almost like 4:3 but more like uhm i can't explain it. It just isn't working properly and i'd like to have it working properly as each and every video i'm watching is a 4:3 native setting and having to set it up as 16:9 each video as it plays is quite annoying.
