    hi, there

i am trying to put some pictures (i took by myself) on a widescreen monitor as wallpapers. However, the pictures look compressed (they look OK on a normal monitor). I believe this is because of different ratio (16:10 vs 4:3). Can any one suggest a way to resolve this issue?

Crop the photos first to the correct resolution and aspect ratio.

if they look compressed, it's because they are being stretched to fit your screen. If you are using Vista, use the cropping option that will maintain the aspect ratio yet fit to screen. If you are using XP, I'd suggest you use a free program like Image resizer to change the photo to fit your screen.
