i am having a weird issue here. the monitor on my moms desktop is doing something funny. when the computer is on the monitor works like normal. the issue is when she puts it in hibernation. for a while it would work like normal. but lately something weird is happening.

the monitor would shut off then turn right back on displaying the flatron logo and go into some kind of analog mode then turn off repeating the loop. turning the monitor off results in a dim light flickering in about 1 sec bursts.

is the monitor on its last legs? the monitor is and LG Flatron L1720P.

Have you tried connecting the monitor to another computer to see if the problem(s) persist.
You could also try to a reset on the monitor, I guess the procedure would be similar to this:
