I have a Dell m1330 that originally had two NTFS partitions, C: and D:. In the past I have connected a USB hard drive (G: ) to do backups, including a Complete PC backup ('backup entire system').

I reconfigured the HD including removing D:. I deleted the old complete backup from G:, and tried to do a new complete backup. But the Backup and Restore Center shows both C: and G: as source drives; the only backup destination offered is the DVD drive. There is no visible way to persuade it otherwise.

I put D: back and now I can backup C: (or C: and D: ) to G: just fine. But this really makes no sense. I don't want to keep the D: partition just for this purpose.

    Suggestions appreciated.
