i cant stand all the "firefox has crashed" or "firefox has to close" messages. i know for a fact its not just this one machine because we have nearly 20 pc's / notebooks in my offices and they are all doing it as well as my home pc and my notebook when at home. im running vista sp1 and this is really ridiculous sometimes i literally cant even get on to firefox because it has to crash like 5 or 6 times first before i can use it. and there is no specific thing causing it.. it is totally random. sometimes it will reproduce itself on the same page and sometimes not..

firefox 2.0 DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE.. nor does opera or ie for me

anyone else having this issue.. i simply cant believe this is not fixed for the final release.. guess im either going back to opera or firefox 2.0 since im done dealing with that garbage

My problem is it always says "Firefox is open but not responding..." and needs about 3 starts before it works.

Is this a Vista thing? I haven't had any problems with FF3 on the two XP laptops we have here at home.

I am still using FF2 with no problems. I am waiting for Firefox to auto update for me. You could always use Opera. I personally like Firefox more, but I haven't tried FF3 yet.

this is why I never download a new browser/program right away. Always some bugs that the programmers don't catch until official release.

Firefox 2 will do this as well if it is set to delete private data at shut down and a restart is attempted shortly after shut down. The data clearing routine (Firefox) continues to run for a period after the window closes.

If you were using Firefox 2 and then installed Firefox 3 in the same directory, you may have problems.

Make sure that you have uninstalled Firefox 2 or installed Firefox 3 in a different directory.

I've hand no problems on my XP machine. But there are some add-ons that need to be updated before FF3 gets rolled out to my others. Can't live without Tab Mix Plus and a couple of others. FF's failure to open bookmarks in a new tab is just wrong.

Also, I'm not too thrilled with not being able to alphabetized my booksmarks/bookmark folders by right-clicking. Works just fine in FF2, but not there in FF3.

No problem with me either.. XP with FF3.. Addon: Adblockplus and NoScript...
I think it might be the addon that you have or your system registry is totally out of order.. or something like that..

Besides FF3 is really faster if you compared it with FF2 side by side... I will never go back to FF2..

Edit: About the opening bookmarks in a newtab thing... have u tried middle mouse clicking the bookmarks :D cheers!

    Use older versions.

When your life or business hangs on a software...always use an old & stable version.

Tell me how many business are using Vista? or how many Hospitals are using even XP SP2?

    2.0.0.11 was quite stable.

One thing that really annoyed me in FF3 is the extension installation error -203. I've tried this, but only two things happened. Either it screwed up my extensions, or it doesn't work.

No, it's there, but now we have to right-click up above the line, where the bookmarking options are (Bookmark This page, Organize, etc,..).

No problem at all with FF3 in both XP SP3 and Vista SP1.

This is how I installed FF3. I backed up the bookmarks from FF2, then I uninstalled FF2, and I deleted the Mozilla folders located in Program Files, App Data, and Local Settings/App Data to make sure I got rid of everything from FF2. Then I proceed to install FF3 and restored the bookmarks.

I've been running FF3 since Beta 5 and FF has only crashed once or twice while it was in beta and RC stages. I've had FF2 uninstalled for a while now. When I installed FF3 final, I first uninstalled FF3 RC2, deleted any remaining files, folders, and registry entries, then installed FF3 final.

Have you noticed a specific site that causes FF to crash?

I used to have tons of issues with the original Firefox version. Firefox 2 was darn good to me. I never had a problem with that version at all. Firefox 3 crashed on me once the first day I had it, but it has been a champ since.

Generally, the more complicated the setup, the more likely problems are to occur. Particularly when part of the setup includes specialized functions, such as network management tools and specialized hardware. Likewise, the longer a setup has been installed (and maintained, not stagnant) the more likely there will be problems. Entropy.

While it is not my concern whether another person is on V2 or V3, it is in my nature to try to solve problems, so the problem-solver aches to find out why one works and the other does not.

Yea, like other said, it's all about what you had installed in your computer. Some don't go well with others and tries to crash others. Or maybe someone's computer got malwares becoz they did too much "surfing".. lol
Anyway, the 1st reason is more possible since we know that nearly all the ppl over here aint nuubs.

I've already installed [and subsequently uninstalled] FF3 on my laptop today TWICE. I'm definitely sticking to FF2 for the time being. FF3 was just unstable and buggy for me. Would just crash for no apparent reason, and when I try uninstalling extensions, I click the "Restart Firefox" button, but when Firefox restarts, the extension is still installed there. Tried the "Restart", just closing Firefox, and even restarting my PC, BUT THE EXTENSION WAS STILL THERE..!

Lastly, FF3 would scroll much much slower than FF2 [in fact, the site doesn't slow down in FF2 at all] in a site that I frequent [it has a lot of flash content], I almost thought FF3 would crash any second when all I did was just scroll down through the page... Minor note, but I didn't notice much of a difference in memory usage between FF2 and FF3...

I did like how FF3 opened up almost instantaneously though. And the easier bookmarking. And the "Save and Quit" option when I'm closing FF3. I'm definitely looking forward to the day when I can use FF3 more stably [probably when all my extensions are fully FF3-compatible :p].

Hmm that sucks :( FF3+Vista here, no problems. FF3 actually fixed a few annoying bugs I've been dealing with in FF2 for months now.
