what is a good program to cut up songs?

i want to cut out different sections of songs to transfer to my phone. can anyone reccomend me a good program to do so?

 

I use Cubase. It's expensive tho.

Try downloading wavepad - it's free and i find it very useful

Fruityloops is another good program but is also expensive

 

Audacity is the best free software for working with sound.
It works great, I've done lots of things with it. I use it all the time to cut up songs for my little sister's ice-skating (she skates to music and the song must be precisely (fill in the blank) seconds long, which means I usually need to cut and create a fade).

I also use it for fine-tuning my Kawai FS-650 Synthesizer/Digital Piano.
I can record the wave-forms in Audacity and then check them against a previously recorded reference to make sure everything is working right.

 

I agree Audacity is a very good program and it is true GNU Free. No spyware or adware to deal with. Plus it does not take long to get used to and will do things that will surprise you.

I have used it to cut up Mp3's for ringtones as well.

I use Ringtone Media Studio from BVRP Software. Costed $20, but is definately worth it.

 

MP3 DirectCut is really good, if what you have is MP3. Doesn't require re-encoding.

 

use bitpim its free a it works great with almost every phone. thats what i use

 

adobe audition is the best one ive found easy to use and the features are easy to use aswell

pretty much every forum ive gone to in the last yr or 2 that had to deal with audio reproduction and cutting up songs and such people usually said either adobe audition or sony sound forge.

that fruity loops the other guy was talkin bout is a beat creation program while it is very useful i use it from time to time but its not really used for cutting up songs.
