Probably the most asked question on Laptop Forums. Install and try them all, pick one.
-
well i just wnet threw goggles crome and i had a few ppl tell me its the fastest one they ever used so i diced to try it and it sucks not sure why its so slow for me
-
They're all pretty much the same these days.
You're going to get a lot of unreasonable replies. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Chrome is my choice. It's fast, no frills, and it was the first browser to offer so much screen real estate back to me, so I kept using it instead of FF.

IE9 and chrome for personal stuff.
FF for web development. -

IE9 and Chrome with Opera as a standby. As someone mentioned above, these days there is no such thing as a "best" browser.
Each of the major options available are relatively comparable in terms of features and capabilities. FF has a tradition of add-ons which some find very useful. Personally, I don't. Some don't like IE9 for various reasons - I do. Some don't like Chrome - I do. Some hate Opera, I quite like it. Some have no problems using Safari, I won't have it on my machine. So, you see, it eventually comes down to preference and, to a degree, habit.
Try them all.
Edit: For some reason, NBR pages open up faster in Chrome than in IE9. -
is there a way to save and book mark pages with Chrome i bene using it again thismorning seems to be working good but i cant figure out how to book mark pages

You should take a look at this tutorial. -

Haven't personally tried it out yet, so can't give a comment on it. -
When not using Flash - Opera.
For when I'm dealing with Flash - Chrome.
Opera's shortcuts, UI, and Fullscreen mode are all superior. But Opera's Flash performance is terrible. -

Personally, I like its stripped down UI, the relative speed increase, the download manager. Of course, I do have some problems with it too. But it is still in beta and maybe MS folks will add of modify some things in IE9. But as a beta, it has - at least for me - been rock stable. -
I tried chromium and it feels a lot way faster than other web browser that I tried.
-
for window i'd say IE is the best as it was built for windows but the difference from a browser to the other are very small
so yours specific preferences set of background app runing hardware stup orientation of the wind phasez of the moon or W/E can change the best browser for your own usage -

I used to browse with FF only. Then when Chrome arrived I tested it and it was pretty fast but not that much of a difference with FF IMHO.
Chrome is said to be the fastest browser from benchmark results. But what people forget to say is that all these benchmarks are Javascript benchmark and Javascript is not a big part of a website.
So I was looking for a real benchmark tool to see if I can test myself all the browsers and pick up the one that is really the fastest. I found webwait.com which allows you to check how long you spend loading a page. I did tweak a little bit all the browsers I have. Installing adblock on FF and Chrome, setting content blocking on Opera, using InPrivate in IE. And I then tried all the browsers on the websites I usually visit. And the fastest one was Opera! I am still using Chrome and FF from time to time and I can definitely say that Opera is the fastest browser with my configuration. I understand that from a laptop to another it might be different especially with IE9 which takes advantage of the GPU but I can say for sure that my own laptop gets the best loading times with Opera.
If you're looking for speed you'll also notice that when loading a page we spend a lot of time in DNS resolution and to speed this up I recommend to use a local DNS resolver such as Acrylic DNS Proxy. -

My key complaint with IE is the lack of agood ad-blocker (yes, there are some, but adblock plus in FF is better).
That's pretty much the reason I stuck with Firefox.
After Opera hijacked my default programme settings once I'm not going back to it anytime soon. And Chrome - I'm giving google too much data already - I don't want to make their life easier still (and yes, you can disable their data mining, but why should I? I just wont install spyware knowingly on my laptop in the first place) -
I just bought a new machine.
Chrome is noticeably faster than any other browser. -
ok well i took it off and put it back on and still cant get the wrench to work
but i did figure out hwo to make the bookmark bar show all the time but why wont the stinking wrench work -
IE8 is my choice when using Win7, IE9 beta is a bit too quirky for me at the moment.
-
I personally use chrome canary build with a few command tweaks and about:flag as well. I simply downloaded browsers, benchmarked them, and compared the results. Chrome (hands down) beat them out. I compared to FF, FF4.0b, Palemoon Project, and IE (sorry Opera, not interested.)
Chrome also syncs with my Android phone. I also don't see the point of having multiple browsers (except IE) -
I find that opera loads the fastest but isnt always widely supported and cant load some elements. i use chrome as a backup and ie9 as a backup backup
-
What's the deal with Opera anyway? They always tout it as being the most hardcore standards browser around yet it seems to have significantly more problems rendering ANYTHING than IE, FF or Chrome.
-
Internet Explorer 9
-
If you want you can make in preferences Opera be recognized by the website as Firefox or IE and in the past started to work in most cases. -
I have used Opera since waaaayyy back when they were the first browser to offer tabbed browsing and THAT is what initially got me hooked on it. I also like that it is a Norwegian based company since I have Norwegian lineage. It is a speedy browser that has everything I need built in already and really the only problem I have run into is some idiotic websites that seem to only work with IE or FireFox.
-
On my laptop Opera is definitely faster than Chrome and by far! -
I tried out Opera once back when it was ad supported.
Man. -
I benchmarked with a few online benchmarks. Can't remember their names.
-
I consistantly get false unable to load pages with chrome on about 4 different machines now.
-
I've been using Opera as my main browser for 10 years now, currently on 10.63. Wouldn't use anything else...I prefer Opera's stability, in-built features, customization options, speed and low resource usage.
IE for those occasions when I have to access my banking sites. I don't even have Chrome or FF installed on my systems. -
You wouldn't mind benchmarking chrome and opera on webwait and see what you get? -
Is stability really an issue these days? I've never heard of any modern browser crashing ever.
-
I ditched Opera and Chrome, 64 bit flash drivers were higly unstable, as well as the broswers just crahsing a lot.
I am using IE9 now and loving it. -
