    Rarely do I use Windows, but when necessary, use XP, Comodo and Kaspersky. Comodo, just because it was not from MS, was free, and didn't seem to have any issues with Vista which came originally with my desktop. When I switched to XP, stayed with Comodo which had seemed to work well, and Kaspersky because I already had paid for it. LOL

    I've never had a virus, so recommend Kaspersky, but have also read many excellent reviews on Nod and Zone Alarm.

    for a great light vista firewall i recc look n stop. i am a LONG TIME nod 32 user but i am trialing avira now. and will prob trial avk and f secure as well. but most likely il be going back to nod as i always do..

    i was a long time outpost user for xp firewall then went to vista now i use look n stop myself. runs great.

    i avoid kaspersky and kav due to chkdsk issues there is with it and i have experienced them first hand if they fix that i would def trial that one again that was always my second choice to nod32.

    NIS 2008 for me. Norton 360 (same with backup software) is also only $10 more expensive.

    1. Max router's firewall settings.
    2. Remove all exception from Windows Firewall.
    3. Work in a limited user account.
    4. Use Opera instead of IE.
    5. Disable scripts, java, and plug-ins.
    6. Using site preferences in Opera, set scripts, java, or plug-ins to work in sites just where needed.
    7. Use Opera's blocked content to block ad serving sites like Doubleclick and IntelliTXT.

    Very effective, leaves resources free, speeds up browsing.

    Haven't been using a Firewall or Anti-virus since I switched to Vista, but I've been meaning to find a light, free AV for a while.

    well avg seems to have worked for me.

    +mcafee site advisor and firefox. and cautiousness of allowing people and strange USB to enter the system. 2 years running and so far so good.

    btw i highly recommend kaspersky, it finds all if not most of the viruses around.

    I've tried AVG a few times, but it seems bloated and heavy, especially since I don't need the email or messenger scanners. Just basic virus protection.

    AV=NOD32
    Firewall=Comodo

    When the Eset Security Suite with NOD32 3.0 comes out, I'll probably upgrade.

    For my antiviruses i use: AVG, Avast, Antivir, Spybot search and destroy, Ad aware 2007, a squared free. And for my firewall i use the default one until comodo pro 3.0 comes out and has full vista compatibility.

    av = avg (Used for 3 years, 0 problems)

    fw = comodo, its annoying @ first with all the popups but with enough use they become almost non-existent. Been "unhackable" with these two.
