I installed windows server 2003 enterprise edition on my new HP 2133 mini-note, and would like to make the lappy a pure workstation. Currently the performance is almost as same as XP installed, but I am not satisfied.
I'd like to disable any services which are not important. Could anyone please give me some tips or point me the right direction?

    Thanks in advance.

maybe you want to have a look at blackvipers site.

this guy has a very complete list on what each service does. he did fill the list for :
    # Vista Service Pack 1 Services
    # Windows XP x86 (32-bit) Service Pack 3 Services
    # Windows XP x64 (64-bit) Service Pack 2 Services
    # Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Services

since xp 64 and server 2003 are more or less built on the same kernel, and are very similar you can check the section for xp64.
