I use to use Norton's stuff, but found it to use too much a drain on CPU processing power(it really slows thing down)

For firewall I prefer Sygate over all others for this same reason. It is included in Pandasoftware's AV package which I use too because of the low CPU overhead and the fact it finds many virus that norton does not.
I use the platinum 7.0 version
    www.pandasoftware.com

For defrag, Diskeeper 8.0 is the best period.
If you get rid of the norton programs you will notice an increase in the speed of your system, thats for sure[ :)]

    1. sygate personal firewall
    2. antivirus corporate edition (a lot more streamlined, less of a cpu and resource hog)
    3. just use the default windows one with buzzsaw(catches fragmentations before they happen and saves 'em.

yes its free, it just constantly watches in the backgroud for fragmentation and will fix it as it catches it, helps after a good defrag to keep it that way. Also, you can select not to have certain drives or files watched if you know what it does and/or those watching and fixing those files/drives will harm performance.

Will buzzsaw fix my problem with my fragmentation level staying at 15%, even after using windows defragmenter?

maybe, you would just have to try it, i usually just get a good defrag and then have this running and don't need a defrag again for several months.
