Roxio Creative DVD and CD Creator 6 has a lot of features and works well. Verbatim media is high quality, and I have had good luck with Fuji as well.

I've tried both Roxio and Nero. I prefer Roxio Media Creator.

I prefer Nero as well, but version six not seven which tries to take over everything.

100% free. I've not needed Nero or anything else since DVD authoring was implemented recently.

I do indeed. Though it has been awhile since I installed seven. It tries to take over music and video programs which I had already setup. I'm sure there is a way to custom install it, but I don't want to work that hard.

I use Nero when burning on single layer disc... I use DVD Decrypter when burning dual layer disc.

I use and highly recommend Nero 6 Final.
Nero works great and has every burning features you would ever need.

Simply put, I have yet seen any other burning software as efficient and effective as Nero.
Of course, there's always Alcohol 120% for burning and creating disc images.

I seem to remember somewhere during installation it asks about filetype associations, I removed them all and it hasn't taken over anything!
