The only real way to get it was to be invited to the beta, they will have sent you a link with a code & download.
Any other means to get it & use it cant be discussed on these forums. -

Well if you waited i think anyone who buys there notebook after july 1 is eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade for free right?
-
ok i am assuming that in order to be invited i have to be part of or know someone working for microsoft??
what is the most stable build that users are running now? -

no they invite people and they had an open beta period where you could sign up for it. I signed up during open beta.
That has been long closed now though, so unless your already in the beta I cant think of any legitimate means to get win7, its due for retail release soon so they have no reason to be giving out more keys for beta testers. -
i was told if someone had the program you could load it from them and go to the site to get a key.
they were still offering the key last month (mid March) when i checked into it last. -

If thats true, then thats what you have to do.
Get a legit key and find the installer -

Maybe you should ask who needs a key and give them out 1 per person rather than post them so that nobody tries to use a key thats claimed.

The RC is going public next month, you can download it then.

LOL... I got them all by just refreshing the MS's sw7 product number page during beta period. -
PM me for build 7057. I'd offer ya build 7068, but its really unstable on every system I installed it on.
-
Mind if I grab build 7057 from you as well?
-
So, there's no update when new build comes out? You have to reinstall W7 from scratch?
-
If you PM me for it
You can update build 7xxx to build 7xxx within Windows. Most choose to upgrade this way, and it seems to have no detrimental effects. I recommend a clean install if going from vista to 7, or from major build to major build, such as beta to rc to rtm. -
There are many places where u can try out the beta. PM me if you need to know.
-
OK, I'm gonna dedicate the whole 20GB on my drive for the partition to run W7.
-
No way, each build gets better, you might have a few minor bugs here and there but thats expected with beta. . I have run every build and 7068 is running great on my DV5.

Yeah, seems I just missed the beta and have been trying to figure this out...
So thanks for the info and + rep @ jackluo923 and emike09

Can you update Windows 7 from builds (7xxx to 7xxx) by running the iso in daemon-tools, or must I burn a CD?
-
Yes, you can do that. It doesn't matter what form the installation media is in (ISO or CD/DVD). It will work the same both ways, but ISO is much quicker during the install.

"Sorry, Windows 7 Beta downloads are no longer available. You can still register for a product key or look up the key you've already gotten. To look up your product key, just pick your version and language below, and click Go. From there, sign in with your Windows Live ID, and your product key will appear on the next page."
You can always google it for download links -

Or wait until may for the official RC. -
Thanks for the answer. It's great to know that I can just mount the ISO for upgrades instead of wasting another DVD.
