    I want to install Vista on a netbook that I'm going to get so I need a new copy of Vista Basic. I am going to use VLite to strip it even further, so I need the cheapest on available (if there is). Also, is it possible to just buy a serial key?


    I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 and I got the vista oem disk. If I use vlite to minimize the file size, then install it on say an eeepc, will it work?

    If you have a valid license key, yes. Otherwise no. The cheapest I've found was at DirectDeals for 89.99$, but that might have expired. Just do a bit of shopping around at pricegrabber\bizrate.

    Is that a yes to installing on an eeepc? If so, what do you mean valid license key? I bought the Dell Inspiron last summer and it comes with windows vista. I have the product key sticker at the bottom of my computer. Im using it right now, it isnt a pirated version of vista.

    It's because I heard that oem dell vista disks wont install on other computers

    Vista HP 32bit @ Microcenter - $80

    It is actually $20 less than the Basic version right now
