i'm looking for cheap places to buy WIN XP PRO + SP2 (CD not just the software) with the license and all....buying it from the reseller will cost me around $140 but ide like to spend less than that cause most of the money is going for the laptop...
    Any suggestions??

I would second eBay, but make sure you are getting the discs and the COA. A lot of times they are just selling the COA. Pricegrabber is another place to look. If you are buying used, make sure you can activate it.

Newegg has XP Pro for about 99...have to check it again, but I thought it was a little under 100.

OK, scratch that, I just checked and it's 140.

I would be weary of buying license software that is used. There is a good possibility that it is not authentic. Although, there are many legitimates out there as well. Just make sure to read the fine print. ;)

I think scubadoc means that the reseller adds 140 to the laptop costs. Whereas, they might give Home as a free OS with purchase like some do.

an asus S96J...it's a barebones system so u get to pick everything u want and leave out the stuff u dont....

The resellers r offering XP PRO + SP2 for $145 exactly and from what ive seen it's around the same price on ebay (inc. shipping) other than ure regular ebay scammer that's offering u the whole thing for less than half the price (and yes i do check their ratings and if they r powersellers or not!), i mean if i HAVE to ill just buy it from the reseller but ide prefer something cheaper since ive already spent more than i wanted on the laptop itself!!

Are you looking for full retail version or would an OEM (non branded) be ok?

The OEM version was going for about $110 on pricegrabber. The OEM version is like Dell buys it meaning you provide your own support. The retail version you get support from Microsoft and all the pretty packaging.
