hello guys..i normally always used the k-lite-codec pack with the mpc (and also had vlc installed for some dvd´s). Will this work for win7 too? or is there already better codec pack?

    thanks :)

I use CCCP + CoreAVC, but it's really a matter of personal preference. If k-lite's working fine for you, I don't see any reason why you should switch.

*Waits for some video encoding enthusiast to come in and say that all codec packs are inferior and everyone should just configure individual codecs by themselves*

Yep. K-Lite is doing fine, no need to mess around with it.

    cheers ...

I usually use Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) with MPC. Never failed me so I never found a reason to switch from this.

+1 for CCCP with MPC. Just installed in win 7 pro, and it works great.

If you can get away with it, I HIGHLY recommend NOT installing any codec packs on Windows 7. This is the first version of Windows where Microsoft finally got a clue and bundled many codecs with the OS—such as H.264, AAC, DivX, XviD and others.

They got the codecs right but still can't deliver a working out-of-the-box experience. Little things like a lack of support for container formats and substation alpha subtitles break it for me.

Codec packs suck, all they do is create media comparability problems, especially when you start installing/uninstalling them, I much prefer to use and recommend using a self contained, universal codec media player such as VLC or MPC.
