    who knows win98 here? havea problem

    so im trying to install linux on this old dell, for fun.

    im trying to acess by the bios and ive tried f1, f2, f8, f10, and del when it boots up to try to access the bios. it wont go to it, instead it goes to the windows advanced options menu. i want to wipe the whole drive and just install linux. any help?

    Are you pressing it immediately after pressing the power button or during the windows loading...it needs to be during the dell splash screen.

    And yes, i still service windows 98 dell laptops. Which is yours?

    im pressing it at the splash screen. but its still not working. ive done this on a few other computers before but this one is being a pita

    Hmm, what about plugging in an external keyboard and trying it? Maybe something is funky with your f2 key?

    i dont think so. because after the bar on the dell splash screen is done. it starts beeping with any key i try

    Take out the CMOS battery, RAM or the HD. It should give you a POST error in the BIOS screen.

    You should be able to enter setup from here.
