when quicksyn came out two years ago it was touted to be a revolution for video rendering. it was faster and produced much better quality than gpu equivalents such as cuda.

but looking around, i see very few programs that leverage the technology. cyberlink's media espresso uses it, but its powerful video editing program, power director doesnt. handbrake just added quicksyn support a week or so ago.

other video suites, such as adobe, corel, dont use it afaik.

is there a compelling reason why?

widi was also introduced when quicksyn debuted with sandybridge. but ive been hearing very little about widi too. could it be because intel put too restrictive hardware protocols on widi? are these limitations still present in haswell?

these two technologies were very interesting to me when they were first showcased. but it seems like they are forgotten pieces of tech that even intel seems to overlook.
