Hey guys, I'm on Gateway 6860 with 1440x900 resolution. I was always on XP with this resolution and I liked it. I installed win7 last night to find that same resolution gives me bigger icons, tex, websites, even ingame resolution is not the same, feels like I can't zoom out from character that much anymore. My icons are set to smallest, resolution is set to highest.
Did someone experience the same thing ? Can u somehow change it ?

Try installing the graphic card drivers, if you have one.

It is true that vista and windows 7 have larger icons maybe you'll get use to it.

A screen shot would be nice.

Those icons are unusually large are you sure you set them to the smallest?

To change the icon size right-click the desktop, go to view and select small.

If your monitor is an LCD and your text are fuzzy then the resolution set is too low (CRTs won't experience fuzzy text). Please make sure again your resolution is set to max. If you did everything you said then windows 7 should look that way.

Windows 7 icons and XP icons are different sizes for the same resolution.

Go to contol panel > Appearance and Customization

Then click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller"

set the option to 100% from the default 125% (which looks like fail to me)

Has anyone else noticed that this setting has a different "Default" for different people?

I am on 100% from begining, the icons are as small as I can set them. They just look freakishly large and take a lot of desktop space :(

I think 7 is able to detect the size and resolution of your display, not sure if that's possible, but that's all I can think of. I have a higher resolution display, and I was set at 125% default. Or maybe perhaps those with higher resolutions just automatically get set at 125%?

Single click on an icon, then hold contol and scroll down with your mouse.

It thinks we won't be able to see the smaller stuff on our 1680 x 1050 screens! :D

Yes, I do now. I only have "smaller" and "medium" not "larger". Maybe if I made a custom size I would get it, I don't know.

Windows 7 automatically put everything at large (150%) when I first booted it on my 15.4 inch laptop with 1920x1200 native resolution. On my desktop, it kept everything at 100% even though I had a 1080p screen. My desktop has a 24 inch screen so I think Windows 7 is trying to optimize your icon/text size based on your resolution and screen size.
