hey guys,
lately i have been having some problems with winamp. i would add music to my music folder and winamp would NOT add it to the list of songs that it has. just now when i opened it up and clicked on audio to see my songs was greeted with error. it said that "WinAmp has stopped working". hitting ok closes the program and cancel brings up runtime error.
is there any way that i can get this corrected?

To update it when you add media to the folder, go to File>Add media to Library>Select the folder your music is in>Click add
-
i did that but still got the error that i mentioned.
-
Are you using the latest version of Winamp? Newer versions occasionally fix errors such as these.
-
Yup update to the latest winamp and install it over the old version. The errors will go away
-
i have the latest version
-
use revo uninstaller to remove it plus run a registry cleaner then do a fresh install
this happened to me before and i fixed by updating to the latest winamp -
after a reinstall i get the same error as soon as i open the program. what now?
-
it doesn't give me a specific error. it just says a problem occurred that stops the program from running.
-
did you try this anyway?
-
still nothing
and on a side note, i went to play a vid i downloaded to find that it opened in winamp. that never happed before. -
anybody have an idea?
-
Download and install AIMP v2.11. It's WinAMP clone and works far away better.
-
that site is in Russian and i don't know Russian.
-
When you installed Winamp, did you run the install as administrator?
I wonder is it has something to do with UAC...
This is what a Winamp geek said when I did a Google search:
On this occasion there is no error box so you can't look to see what the problem is.
However thanks to the reply from siebe83 I tried removing various things and putting them back as suggested without much happening, until I removed ml_pmp.dll and then voila all was as it should be everything worked just as it should. So for me the problem is fixed, I suggest anyone having the same problem tries removing ml_pmp.dll
Cheers and thanks for the help! -
i ran the installer as admin with the same result. and that .DLL file was nonexistent in the winamp folder. i dont have UAC on.
-
I'll keep digging around to see what I can find. -
ok this is wierd. i just opened winamp for fun and i was greeted with a message about adding stuff to my playlist. it is working and i can watch videos that i dled and coverted for my ipod. did something decide to work?
-
another update: it seems that winamp will play a regular unconverted file but not a converted one. could anyone tell me why that is?
-
codec incompatibility.. what format (container + codec) is it in?
-
its an mp4 file. i am not sure about the codec or container.
-
mp4 is usually a video format for portable devices. have you tried using other formats?
-
like what?
-
well if its just audio.. mp3.. wma?
-
ill keep that in mind. let me ask you this then, are there any alternatives to winamp and itunes that i could use with my ipod?
-
-
I recommend Songbird more than Foobar2000 for iPod support.
