[EDIT] oops i accidentally posted in the wrong section AGAIN, dammit. any mod plz move it to the correct section.

has anyone who dual boots Vista and 7 noticed a performance increase on the Vista side?

before i installed Win7 RC, i could only play games at low settings. after Win7 installation, i can play BF2 at

    Terrain: Medium
    Effects: Medium
    Textures: Medium
    Lighting: High
    Dynamic Lighting: High

with fairly good framerates, only lagging at really intense parts. is it a Win7 effect? definitely NOT placebo.

Vista performance gains as a result of installing another OS alongside? Impossible. Do you have scheduled disk defragmenting or some other maintenance software enabled? Did Windows Update recently apply any patches? These are all more credible (and possible) explanations for the performance increase.

Maybe your Vista Installation is feeling the heat!

People tend to work harder if their jobs are immediately threatened.

Would any of you Pro's like to give me a real veiw of Windows 7 from the perspective of why I would want to buy it before SP2 comes out?

Thanks in advance for any help..

to the original topic.. can the new drivers in Windows 7 some how benefit the older Vista? Bleeding over or the BIOS is updated and this would cause a performance increase? I know the Intel stuff had to be fixxed becuase of the BIOS changes in Windows 7..

    Be well all, JW

Nope. It might be your mind. Or the fact it is getting colder and that means we can all up our overclocks.

haha....unfortunately, there was no decrease in heat (i checked). and im using OEM drivers, not the generic drivers. BIOS is still 1.06 (InsydeH2O).

but if it were just my imagination, then why can i suddenly play BF2 at such settings? it never did before (before was all low or off). strange... i know it sounds impossible as Bog said tho..

No idea. BF2 got some updates?

My Nvidia 8800gt actually lost FPS moving to Win7. I only notice it when there is a lot of fire onscreen in L4D.
