I've heard that you can disable IPv6 to get it working. Go to the properties for the LAN connection on all computers and uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
Other suggestions:
1. Disable all other network adapters on all computers (even VM ones).
2. Connect all computers with cables and try again, if possible.
3. Connect both computers with wifi and try again, if possible.
4. Go to Network and Sharing Center on all computers and see if there's another adapter, set to Public Network. Change that to home network too. -
IPv6 must be enabled on all the computers in the HomeGroup AND supported by your router, switch, access point, etc. to use HomeGroups. For instance, the popular Tomato firmware for Linksys WRT-54G routers does not support IPv6, so any network using that router will not support HomeGroups even if the computers have IPv6 enabled. (There are various mods for Tomato, some of which do include IPv6 support.)
