so this has happened on windows machines of mine in the past but i've never really looked into it. it's now happening on my current machine after a recent windows update (at least i'm pretty sure that's what's brought about the change). basically instead of seeing the glowing windows loading animation, i see a scrolling list of loaded drivers. is there anywhere in the registry that calls for this instead of the windows animation? or is it possible that, because cold boot from ssd occurs so fast, windows is already loaded before getting to the animation? just curious. obviously not affecting performance or anything like that. boot time remains unchanged.

There is a way to disable the animation at boot and see what drivers are being loaded, i don't remember exactly where it is, but it does exist.

In msconfig, if you go to the boot tab, you'll see an option called OS boot information that's probably checked. That's most likely it.
