Hi everybody.
Since i got my new pc 3 weeks ago, i used the windows backup system to backup my SSD where windows is installed into my data hard drive on which it is not installed the os.
mean while i've been adding on my data hard drive ( D ) some programs and general data but nothing ofcourse windows related.
now i found out that when i run the back up thingy, it does not detect anybackup anymore done on D because now D shows up as system... why? why would that happen? If i go in explorer D still shows up as non system i mean like this https://gyazo.com/1e4ab99e781eacac7043ba3149515c0c .. but the windows backup thingy now recognizes D as system.. together with C.
I tried to run an other third party software for back up and it recognizes correctly only C as the system unit..
i've not been installing many things on D. just some games from steam and random data.. utorrent .. not much
thanks so much for your help in advance

You are on Windows 10 and you use its new Windows backup software, which saves files you chose to a specific location. What are the files you selected to be saved? For example I selected C:\users\YourUserName to backup all my personal files. Also, did you create a file on your D drive to store the save or did you save it to the drive directly?

That's why you should only use Macrium Reflect, smaller, more precise, and faster backups

If you need more help, let me know so I can connect to you via TeanViewer and show you how to properly use it and how to restore the correct waycrusher88 likes this. -
When you made the backup did it create a folder where it stored the backup? So that when you look in D:\ there is only 1 folder containing the backup? I'm asking because I'm not familiar with this specific tool. Btw this is the tool from Control Panel > backup and restore (Windows 7) right?
Were the programs installed at the same location as the backup?
Yes if:
-the backup is in a folder, the program was installed in the same folder.
-the backup is not in a folder, but directly on D:\, so the program was installed at the same location as the backup.
If an other backup program works, then it might be easier to just use another tool and create a backup with it instead.

just a quick update , thanks god i had made a backup with this program... I removed intel driver for a mistake with revo unistaller and OMG.. it was all falling apart.. so i restored image with reflect and the backup i had done with @Phoenix worked like a charm and it saved me from certain death like restoring windows to 0.. it worked all perfectly and the image was perfect .. reflect also offers the possibility to do differential backup for free ( to do incremental you need the paid version)

And I think Revo creates one by default if enabled in your windows settings.
