    hello....

    i would like to know if it is possible to recover windows in a laptop from germany with an english version windows recovery CD if i format the computer. i am planning to buy a laptop from a german website and the windows recovery cd that comes with it is in german version...

    The BIOS might be in German...but other than that, I know it won't be a problem. My ex-girlfriend was Dutch, and I reinstalled an English version of Windows (was a Dutch version of Windows originally installed) on her lappy with no issues...

    thanks for the replies guys...

    i would like to know if the windows recovery CD is the same thing as a bootable windows CD......im not quite sure i understand the difference in installing windows on a desktop PC or on a laptop (whether some part of windows is integrated with the laptop and the recovery cd is just like a tool or something in installing windows on the laptop).....

    Usually a recovery CD implies it recovers the PC/Laptop to its orginal state including the applications and drivers that were installed on it when you got it. A Windows CD installs Windows and nothing else. You have to install any applications and/or drivers yourself.

    You can't repair existing instalation using other version of windows but if you realy format HDD there is no problems to instal any Win exluding HP compaq laptops :(
