For various reasons I would like to find a notebook with a 17 inch screen to install Windows Server 2003. I ideally would like to find one that has supported drivers. If that is not going to happen then any recommendations for a notebook with easily found drivers for Windows 2003.

    Thank you.

Windows XP and Vista's drivers should be able to be installed on Server 2003 and work. I've only used Server 2003 on VMWares so far.

I've had very mixed results installing Windows 2003 Server on notebooks. I myself am in the market for a new ultra portable, on which I plan to install Windows 2003 Server. Not all Windows XP or Vista drivers will install or work on it. And it's nearly impossible to verify before buying, as so very little information is available anywhere. Are there really so few people installing that OS? There must be heaps of developers like myself that uses it, no?

I have Dell E1505 with T7300 and 2 GB of Ram. I run Vista Ultimate and use Virtual PC 2007 run Server 2003 SP2. I don't see any problem with it. Why don't you use Virtual PC? I can run everything from DHCP, DNS, Domain Controller, IIS, SQL 2005, and etc.

I don't really see any problems if your laptop has hardware to run the OS.

If you want official support you'll need to look at the Business ends of laptops. Dells latitudes show support for drivers. Lenovo's Thinkpads show drivers for 2003.
