Hi everyone, i might soon order my msi gt725, but it comes with windows vista home premium 32 bits. Since I'll have 4 Gb of Ram, is there any way for me to go to 64 bits to be able to fully take advantage of the 4 Gb of RAM? Cause right now, what i intend to do is to burn my recovery dics, and after i'd format my HDD to install windows 7 RC 64 bits. But with this, i won't have the final version of windows seven that comes along with the computers. And, the thing is that since it's an upgrade i wont be able to upgrade to 64 bits without loosing all my data.... is there some kind of solution?

    Thanks

I'm slightly confused. Did you purchase a Windows 7 upgrade?

^^ i'll make myself clearer... I'm planning to get a laptop, which is elligible for a free windows 7 upgrade. BUT, the laptop comes with windows vista 32 bits... i'd like to have 64 bits... but i have no vista CD at home... so what i planned to do is getting the laptop, burning the recovery discs, and then install windos 7 RC 64 bits. But, when windows 7 will be out, i'll re-install vista 32 bits to upgrade it to wiindows 7 32 bits... now, does anybody know if there is some way of getting windows 7 64 bits instead?

thanks but i already have it on a DVD^^ it was just because I know this ends on June 10th 2010 so i thought of getting the 64 bits through the upgrade kit... but I don't think i'll be able since vista will be 32 bits... it's too bad.... unless i can find a vista installation cd... and install 64 bits.... and then, upgrade with win 7.

Oh, but i think i read that i could upgrade to 64 bits from a 32 bits version but I,d loose my data? If so i'll save it... is that true?

I am not personally aware that you can "upgrade" to 64 Bits from a 32 Bits system. One needs a clean install for this - thus the losing of all data.

So, sure, save your data first.

    cheers ...

You can't upgrade from a 32-bit operating system to a 64-bit one. It has to be a clean install.

The recovery disks only put your system back to the original state when you first receive it. So, no :-(

Borrow a friend/relative disk. Safest way to go.
