    windows wouldn't update... nor will Messenger work :((( please help

    Hello
    I attend a boarding school and am using a school proxy server.
    I use Avast antivirus and uninstalled norton internet security.

    And I recently got this laptop
    however, since the beginning, my windows update would not work with the code 80072EFD, and the messenger does not work with error code 80048820.
    I searched the error codes online. I tried turning off the firewall and even closing avast antivirus. Both times, nothing worked.

    Is it the proxy server?
    Please help!

    o i solved it

    the automatically detect settings box was unchecked in Lan Settings
    both worked right after I checked the box.

    Never turn off your firewall to 'solve' a problem. I don't care what kind of problem it is, it only causes bigger problems.
