hey i have a question...(if this is in the wrong section of the thread sorry)
well everytime when i turn on my laptop, it tell me that my wireless abg is turned off and i know that. but does it have to remind me every single time i turn on the computer? is there a way to turn off all microsoft bubbles. cuz its really annoying. they dont even dissappear unless you click on the tiny little x. the x is even worse if the resolution is on high x.x

I too would want to know, truely annoying.

Yeah, there's a registry edit for this but it will disable all balloons...
Open the run window and type "regedit"
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Explorer --> Advanced
Create a new dword, title it "EnableBalloonTips" and set the value to 0, which is the default.
I believe a reboot is needed after you do this. -

Is there any way to just turn off balloons specific to certain programs? I like to have some of them, but I don't need CHC to tell me every time I put in or take out a DVD, ya know?

Every time I put in or take out a DVD, CHC tells me that there's a new profile or something. Maybe it's a WinDVD thing, I don't know... I honestly haven't looked at it too closely, but it's makin' me nuts.

Theres one wonderful tool called Group Policy Editor. Open the "Run" from Start Menu and type "gpedit.msc".
You have lot of things more flexible to use than the "regedit". "regedit" is more a computer thing but "gpedit.msc" is more a human thing.
Check it out.. -
nothing opens..it says that it's an invalid command... -

Is there any way to change how long the bubbles pop up? It's nice getting these notifications, but once I get the message, I don't need it living on my screen forever, and it's really annoying having to manually close them. I don't want to turn them off completely, but can I make them just pop up for, say 10 seconds and then go away?

Not that I know of.
